 Understanding The Standard

Whether you are a breeder, exhibitor, or judge, it is helpful to know how to interpret the standard.  Even as a companion owner, you might want to see how your dog fits into the standard.  Visual aids are always helpful!!

As we are so close to the US border, and many dogs, judges and exhibitors cross the border for shows, I am including both the Canadian and US breed standards.  The Canadian standard is in red, the US standard in purple.  My commentary will be in black.

Please remember that the standards are being copied verbatim, but my commentary is my opinion only.  My interpretation may not be yours, although I do think that after 25 years I have a pretty good grasp of the standard!

I hope you find this useful, but please remember, this material may not be used without my specific written permission and unless proper credit is given.
